Biographical note: Kazuaki Sono

Professor of Law, Hokkaido University, 1973-1997 (now Professor Emeritus). Beside academic activities, engaged in various international work including Secretary of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL)1980-1985, and Assistant General Counsel of the International Monetary Fund(IMF)in charge of policy matters 1990-1993.

Also as representative of Japan, chaired UNCITRAL in 1991 and dealt with the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Credit Transfers. Academic background includes LL.M. Kansai University 1959, Fulbright Graduate Study at Yale 1960-1961, and J.D. University of Washington 1969. A member of MOCOMILA since 1978.
